MIAMI & EVERGLADES

Our trip over to Florida was a day flight from Heathrow to Miami International Airport. We arrived at around 5pm local time but it felt like midnight to us and the kids!

We only spent 2 nights at a hotel in Bal Harbor, north of Miami but it worked fine as a base. Being on the beach was nice too as we immediately felt like we were on holiday and because of the time difference we were up in time to see the sun rise which was a real treat. Our time in Miami Beach was brief but really enjoyable - we found it to be a great town with a very cool and laid back atmosphere. The kids were not as interested in the art deco architecture as we were but there was enough going on while we looked around that they didn't get too bored.

On the second day we packed up and drove to the west side of the Everglades National Park, did a great airboat trip where we saw lots of wildlife close up before heading into Naples for a look around and a meal.
